The game didn’t begin with the usual Green Hill Zone vibrancy. The "repixeled" aesthetic was immediately jarring—it was sharp, hyper-realized in its 16-bit limitation. The colors were saturated to the point of hurting the eyes. Knuckles stood on Angel Island, but the island was wrong. The trees were pixelated into shapes that looked like grasping hands.

Just finished playing through the Knuckles demo for Sonic.exe: One More Time (Repixeled) , and honestly... this might be the best version of the character yet.

Knuckles passed right through him.

The level design was a mockery of "lifestyle." Loop-de-loops led nowhere, crashing Knuckles into invisible walls. Springs launched him into spikes. The "entertainment" was a rigged game.
