As of October 24, 2023, WhatsApp no longer supports Android 4.1.2
Before diving into the technical details, it is vital to understand that WhatsApp officially ended support for Android 4.1.2. As of November 1, 2021, WhatsApp requires devices to run at least Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) or newer. Devices strictly limited to Android 4.1.2 can no longer run the current version of WhatsApp, and older APKs generally fail to connect to WhatsApp servers due to security protocol updates.

If you have a device running Android 4.1.2 that you cannot upgrade, WhatsApp is unfortunately no longer a viable communication tool. However, some alternatives may still function on older architecture (though support for them is also fading):
