The story revolves around (Parvathy), a free-spirited graphic artist who runs away from home to escape an arranged marriage. She moves into a ramshackle apartment in Fort Kochi, where she discovers sketches and remnants of the previous tenant—a mysterious man named Charlie .
The film’s brilliance lies in its structural dichotomy. We have Tessa (Parvathy Thiruvothu), a woman seeking an escape from the claustrophobia of societal expectations, and Charlie (Dulquer Salmaan), a man who exists entirely outside of them.
Dulquer Salmaan, the son of megastar Mammootty, is a pan-Indian star with a massive fan base in the North, thanks to films like Karwaan and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (his cameo aside). Dubbing Charlie into Hindi allows his northern fans to experience his most iconic role. His portrayal of Charlie—carefree, suicidal at times, wildly romantic, and impossibly charming—is a masterclass in acting. The Hindi voice-over artists have successfully captured his energetic cadence, making you fall in love with the character all over again.
, is a visually stunning and soul-stirring adventure. It's less of a traditional "action" movie and more of a whimsical exploration of life, freedom, and human connection.
The cinematography showcases the rustic beauty of Kerala and the misty hills of Meesapulimala.
